IBER-OLEFF COMPONENTES TECNICOS EM PLASTICO SA
Founded in 1993, IBER-OLEFF has its headquarters in Pombal (Portugal) and employs approximately 600 workers in its 3 manufacturing plants in Portugal.
With a consolidated annual turnover of 35 million euro, IBER-OLEFF is dedicated to the design, engineering and production of kinematic systems and components for the automotive and electronic industries.
Since its foundation, innovating and introducing differentiated technologies and skills, has been playing an important role on developing and producing high added value components and systems for the automotive sector. IBER-OLEFF´s strategic development gives particular emphasis on agility and flexibility of its layouts and team training, allowing competitive management of small series (niche models) or large series production (vehicles and products of high consumer market models).
Our customer profile includes many of the largest international original automotive component manufacturers (OEMs), as well as largest Tier-1 companies, who rely on the integrity of IBER-OLEFF products and services to meet their own exacting standards. With worldwide presence in more than 20 countries, with an expanded presence in Europe, America, Asia and Africa, IBER-OLEFF has an export rate above 95% of its total turnover.
IBER-OLEFF is certified in quality, environmental and innovation management according to the ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001 and NP 4457 requirements. Apart from these certifications, IBER-OLEFF is recognized by some OEMs and Tier-1 customers as an Accredited Supplier: Ford, Bosch, BMW, Delphi, Continental, Volkswagen, Seat, McLaren, Ferrari, Mitsubishi Trucks Europe etc.
In POLYMERS-5B project, IBER-OLEFF is mainly involved leading the WP5: Integration, Validation and Evaluation of polymeric prototypes, and the pilot on Bio-composites and polymeric prototypes for the Automotive industry thus leading task T5.1.
With Polymers-5B it is intended to integrate the knowledge of the consortium, with regard to the design and synthesis of polymers and the simulation of polymers and composites, and to combine this knowledge to develop polymers tailored to specific application, and adjusted to the standards corresponding to the product category.
The IBER-OLEFF case studies products correspond to components of the main categories of plastic parts for the automotive interior: structural one, such as the housing of an airvent, usually made of PP; functional one, such as airvent lamellas, normally made of PA; and appearance one, such as a bezel, usually made of PC/ABS or ABS.
The main objective is to obtain components/products produced in novel bio-based polymers synthesized with properties and performance similar to components in materials of fossil origin and whose environmental benefits are superior: biodegradable, recyclable and with a reduced carbon footprint.
