Polymers-5B Innovation at Técnico Innovation Summit 2026 | 03.02.2026
On 3 February 2026, iBB/IST-ID, a partner and member of the Polymers-5B project, participated in the Técnico Innovation Summit 2026, showcasing research projects with clear pathways to market uptake.
Showcasing biopolymers and advanced demonstrators
At the Summit, iBB presented demonstrators developed in-house, including:
- Biopolymers from bio-renewable monomers extracted from 2G feedstock residues, now commercially available in the EU for:
- Textile
- Automotive
- Furniture
- Polymeric resins
- 3D printing innovations advancing:
- Circular economy
- Medical technologies
- Cellular agriculture

Addressing Industry and Societal Challenges
iBB projects also addressed:

Polymers-5B in Round-Table Discussions
In parallel, Prof. Luis P. Fonseca, coordinator of the Polymers-5B project, contributed to round-table discussions on innovation in advanced materials.
Other iBB representatives, including Leonilde Morais Moreira, discussed the role of biotechnology in health, illustrating iBB’s multidisciplinary impact.
