POLYMERS-5B presented at the 15th ECOSYSTEX Public Webinar: Bio-Waste and Sustainable Fashion in the spotlight | 13.06.2025

June 19, 2025

POLYMERS-5B took centre stage in the session “Bio-a-dressing the future: Transforming bio waste into new textile possibilities” of the 15th ECOSYSTEX public dissemination webinar, held online on Friday, 13 June 2025.

The event served as a key platform for EU-funded initiatives under the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE-JU) that are pushing the boundaries of circularity and sustainability in the textile sector.

The webinar opened with a welcome message from Simone Maccaferri, Project Officer at CBE-JU, followed by expert insights from four pioneering projects, all demonstrating how bio-based innovation is reshaping the textile value chain.

Representing POLYMERS-5B were Luis Fonseca (IST-ID/iBB, Portugal), David Sánchez Domene (EURECAT, Spain), and Cecilia Guarás (Bobochoses, Spain), who shared the project’s innovative approach to converting bio-waste into new, sustainable textile solutions. Their presentation highlighted early results and the potential of using discarded biomass to develop circular materials that meet the growing demand for environmentally responsible fashion.

Through its cross-sector collaboration and blend of science, technology, and design, POLYMERS-5B is emerging as one of the most promising initiatives driving the sustainable fashion transition in Europe.
